Visitors

Living in the heart of downtown, we sometimes see the occasional raccoon or possum. This weekend, we had such a surprise, when Rob heard clucking and purring. He looked up and there were 2 female turkeys roosting in our tree and 2 turkeys in our neighbor's tree. Here they are ~ such beautiful birds!
They were starting to get a little nervous with us focusing so much attention on them.
Hmmm.. where do we go now?
One flew to our neighbor's roof .. waiting for the other turkey to join her..
Bye, bye turkeys! This is right before they flew into a neighbor's back yard. Have a great week!

More springy things!

I've acquired quite a few of these Blackbird Designs stockings and finally stitched up my first one. I had big plans to have this completed by St. Patrick's Day, but I don't think so.
I have to share my newest Easter addition to my home ~ my sister surprised me with this huge foiled-covered bunny from Home Goods. She was afraid I wouldn't like it! Isn't he adorable? I just love the basket of eggs on his back. I'm going to have so much fun decorating with him.
I'm off to enjoy the spring~like weather.. maybe take Mr. Sparky for a walk around the neighborhood.. He has napped entirely too long today.

*Happy March 1st* *This is a sweet design from The Sampler

Happy March 1st
This is a sweet design from The Sampler Girl. It's Tanya's Primitive Irish Cupboard Sampler. I stitched this on a 32 count linen with the recommended DMC floss. A funny thing happened.. after I sewed this, I was poking the corners of the pillow and talking to Rob at the same time. Not paying attention, I poked a hole in my linen in the bottom right corner. Rob said, "Oh no!" and I started to laugh. Since the year 1737 is stitched, I figured the hole will just make it look that much older. Have a happy day!

Sweet finishes

February was a productive month for my needle. I stitched up three different freebies for some family and one for me :) The "Be Mine" is a freebie from The Sampler Girl. "LOVE" is a freebie from The Stitcherhood and my nephew loves it! His mama told me he is sleeping with it which makes me smile. "Oh Sweet Valentine" is a freebie from Primitivebettys and my sister requested this to be stitched in black to go along with some other primitive stitches I have given her.
I've already stitched up something for St. Patrick's Day .. hope to get the finishing done tomorrow.

To give you an update on my Dad. He was discharged home from the hospital today! He sounded very content to be home, as did my mom.

Update on my Dad's surgery

Hi everyone.. My Dad's back surgery lasted 5-1/2 hours and he did great! The surgeon is very pleased with how everything went. Yesterday they had him sit up in a chair for 30 minutes, but I don't think that was his idea of a fun time. My mom is able to stay at a nearby hotel that has a shuttle service to and from the hospital so she is being well taken care of. We're not sure how long he will be in the hospital, but it may be until next Wednesday.

Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words, thoughts and prayers for my Dad, Mom and me... we really appreciate it. It was so comforting to read your words..

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Prayers and good thoughts for my parents

On Friday, February 19, my Dad is undergoing a major back surgery.. If I can ask, please keep my Dad in your prayers for a successful surgery and prayers for my mom as well, because I know she's hoping and praying this surgery works. I'll update you once I hear any news.
